World Wise Schools
World Wise Schools is a Peace Corps program that provides resources to teachers and classrooms. Their web site has a great collection of lesson plans that you can browse by grade level, subject area, region, and/or country. There is also a section titled "Themes" where you can find curated resources organized by particular global issues or regions. There are also links to specific publications, mostly curriculum guides. Two unique programs directly related to the Peace Corps are "Classroom Correspondence" and "World Wise Speakers." In the former, classrooms are connected to a PeaceCorps volunteer who is currently in the field with whom students can exchange emails and learn from through videos, photos and telephone calls. This exchange lasts for two years. The latter program brings returned Peace Corps volunteers to the classroom to speak about their time in the program. Hearing their stories and personal experiences can greatly enrich the classroom, particularly if coordinated with units of study.
